Protection of Human Rights Our Jointly Responsibility: Chaudhry Zafar Gondal
(By Zafar Chishti, Bureau Chief Punjab Pakistan) SARGODHA: Senior Vice Chairman Punjab International Human Rights Movement (IHRM) Chaudhry Zafar Gondal has said that protection of human rights, raising voice for the oppressed and vulnerable people and playing a practical role in promoting justice, equality and rule of law are among the core priorities of the International Human Rights Movement.He said that the organisation was making efforts at every level for the protection and promotion of human rights and would continue its struggle in this regard in the future as well.In a statement, Chaudhry Zafar Gondal said that human rights were the foundation of every civilised society. He said it was the collective responsibility of the state and society to ensure dignity, justice, freedom and fundamental rights to every citizen without discrimination.He stressed the need for ensuring the rights of weaker and deprived segments of society and highlighting their issues before the relevant forums. He said creating awareness about fundamental rights was essential for building a just and peaceful society.
He further said that practical measures were being taken for the protection and promotion of human rights in accordance with the vision and guidance of International Human Rights Movement World Chairman Rana Basharat Ali Khan.
Chaudhry Zafar Gondal said the organisation was working to create awareness among citizens about human rights and to raise its voice against violations of rights within the constitutional and legal framework. He maintained that mere claims were not enough for the protection of human rights, rather sustained efforts and practical measures were required.He said promotion of peace, tolerance, mutual respect and equality could help create an environment where every individual could enjoy equal rights and access to justice.The Senior Vice Chairman said the International Human Rights Movement was also playing its role in highlighting issues faced by different segments of society and bringing them before the relevant authorities. He expressed the resolve that efforts for the protection of human rights and provision of relief to oppressed people would continue.Chaudhry Zafar Gondal urged all segments of society to play their due role in respecting human rights and upholding the rule of law so that a peaceful, just and dignified society could be developed.
